Aesthetic pinball game for mobile
From Eva with Green is a premium adventure title for mobile from developer Crescent Moon Games. It is a pinball game featuring minimalist aesthetics and a heartwarming story. In it, players receive a cryptic letter and they will need to decipher its true meaning and intentions.
Compared to other games like Pinball Cadet or Pinball Arcade, From Eva with Green takes a more casual approach to its gameplay but is no less engaging. The experience is complemented by beautiful artwork and a cast of charming characters that players can meet and know more about as they progress through the story.
Artistic flair
Pinball is one of the oldest arcade games ever and has been around for many decades at this point. These games offer a fun and engaging time, combining over-the-top visuals and twitch gameplay. Now, you don't normally attribute these types of experiences with a story, much less, a heartwarming one, but that's exactly what From Eva with Green is trying to do.
In this game, you receive a mysterious letter from the titular Eva with a small green souvenir enclosed within, which is essentially a pinball that you'll use to play across multiple beautifully designed levels. Each level features a chime that you need to hit for it to drop the seeds you need to collect. You'll then tap and swipe on them to grow and bloom into flowers.
Completing levels unlocks small snippets of stories from multiple characters recounting each of their unique experiences in life and the precious lessons and realizations they had through them. That said, the appeal of the game is soured by the awkward touch and swipe control for growing seeds since it clashes with the taps to control paddles, and the whole thing just feels clunky and unintuitive.
Marred by weird controls
All in all, From Eva with Green stands out from its contemporaries with its beautifully minimal art style and characters with charming stories to tell. The aforementioned issues with the unintuitive control mechanic do detract from the experience a bit, If you don't mind it and can get used to it, then this is a game worth checking out and seeing for yourself.
